Okay so I know I said no more shopping in the New Year, but these JCrew Mona tassel pumps reduced from $268 to $79, with additional 30% off of that, and one lone pair in size 7 1/2 sitting on the shelf was just meant to be (I did have to use my body as a shield when I saw a girl my height reaching for them). They can be paired with jeans (as I did below for after dinner drinks) or with camel wool trousers for client meetings (as I plan to do for my upcoming first client meeting in Greenwich).

A new year, a new resolution, a new pair of shoes, and a new revitalized hope that the year will bring peace, joy, love, and prosper.

When you get married, leave the city, have a baby, buy a house, and then you turn 30, New Year's eve takes different shapes. For the arrival of 2009 we did 10 pm dinner in the village at Otto, a Mario Batali gem (where my college friends deftly took a few bottles of wine from the rack we happened to sit too close to). To ring in 2010 we did a similarly tardy meal, followed by escapades in the west village, from which the hubs and I stumbled home to our one room apartment and slept with the window wide open while snow accumulated on the windowsill. Celebrations for 2011 (4 months pregnant) and 2012 (7 month old baby) involved the couch and sparkling cider.

This year, to celebrate the start of a year that hopefully brings prosper and joy, we will celebrate at a friend's house party, but we will do so on Saturday, for many similarly situated (old and married) friends will be working on New Years, and our free babysitter (grandma) is booked for the occasion. So while we prepare to ring in the New Year a few days early, a fierce outfit is always in order.

Clutch It

When a former colleague informed me that the adorable C Wonder site I blogged about last month is actually the spawn of Tory Burch's former hubby, I was displeased with myself for not knowing that fact earlier. The sweet selections bear a super similar resemblance to the famed Sportswear and  accessory maven's line, but the wallet friendly price tags dont pack such a punch.

Though the gift-giving season has come and gone, I couldn't resist this ridiculously affordable clutch, large enough for my iPad, yet small enough for a desk-to-dinner night (which I have often this coming month as the client meetings begin to clutter the calendar).

Christmas Eve Attire

More fabulous the the day itself, I love Christmas Eve. The anticipation, the magic, the sparkle (and of course the food). Alternating between Connecticut to see the in-laws, and my own family on Long Island, this year we stay close to home with the latter, entailing gifts under the tree and dinner out. This being our second Christmas season with our bundle of joy, dressing for the occasion requires more care and washable fabric than before.

Storage for Sunnies

With a few precious free moments during Tucker's extra long Saturday nap, and when there were no reruns of RHOBC on Bravo, I needed a project. Emily from Cupcakes and Cashmere inspired me to add even more layers of organization to my accessories, and with a spare piece of Tiffany ribbon, I had an idea.

(L to R) Ann Taylor Loft classic black frames (similar here), Preppy Ray Ban Wayfarers, Marc Jacobs in tortoise (similar here) , and finally, Chanel that I bought before law school with 'extra money' I will likely never have again. Note my favorite Ray Ban aviators are MIA, a prime example of why I need this organizer!

Sunglasses are always getting tangled, lost, or placed in an inconvenient location furthest from where I need them to be. So this is my solution. Loving DIY.
